A globetrotter by nature and an avid businessman by profession, Shreekant Somany can truly be called an explorer, heartily rambling with an evolved canvas of experiences. Capturing the frames of new heights and new perspectives every day, Shreekant Somany dreamily brings life to his expeditions with an edge towards technology, a sharp aesthetic sense, & an ever-lasting yearning for nature.    

 

Shreekant Somany, after doing Graduation in Science from Kolkata University, joined the family business in 1970. An Industrialist and presently the Chairman & Managing Director of Somany Ceramics Limited, manufacturer of Ceramic Tiles, Sanitary ware and CP Fittings, Mr. Somany was a recipient of the prestigious Corporate Technical Achievement Award from the American Ceramic Society in the field of Innovative Ceramic Glaze. He has been associated with various business federations and associations and presently is a member of the CII National Council., and Chairman of CII National SME Council & also the Centre of Excellence for competitiveness.  He is also the Co-Chair of the CII National Committee on Exim.

Being in the business of adding beauty to living spaces, he has always been artistically inclined - in love with art, design, and music. He has been a member of Samagam, an organization established with the objective of strengthening the fields of performing and visual arts. He is also a Member of India Habitat Centre of Siri Fort Complex, and of the Bengal Rowing Club.

 

Although he is reckoned for his business acumen and innovative ideas the most, Mr. Somany’s interests are nothing short of eclectic. He has been a zealous horticulturist for years and his interests in music vary from classical to modern & Indian to Western. A photographer by heart and a nature-lover by soul, what really outlines is his passion to discover the new and tread the road less-traveled. Shreekant, with every photograph that he clicks, discovers a new leaf of this book, a leaf that gives a new perspective, a leaf that opens the doors of imagination and tells a new tale.

 

For the past 10 years, Mr. Somany has been on this wonderful journey of discovering new meanings and new stories. He believes that there are a thousand ways of looking at a picture & it is the perspective that makes it meaningful. Besides his other stellar achievements, what really carved a meaningful spot in his heart are his exhibitions. He has exhibited his photography in Kuwait in the year 2013, and at the Kalakriti Gallery Hyderabad in the year 2015. Thus, fueling his passion & profoundly exploring new places & art, Shreekant Somany continues to capture hearts, stir perspectives, & spark smiles with his sharp grainy leaves – his photographs.
